S-234: Ignition Operations

Course Details:

This is an entry-level course providing training in the functional roles and responsibilities connected with firing operations. The course covers, planning, ignition procedures and techniques, and equipment applicable to wildland and prescribed fire. This course also addresses the role of the ignition specialist or firing boss as the organization manages escalation from a non-complex to a complex fire situation.

Note: This course is not intended to qualify or certify any personnel in the use, storage, or transport of any firing device. Rather, it is to provide the potential firing boss a description of available equipment and the requirements specific to each such device.

Incident Safety Awareness for Hired Vendors

Information:

Hired vendors working with CAL FIRE or USFS on any active wildland fire, including water tender operators, heavy equipment with water operators, dozer operators, crew bus drivers, vehicle drivers, mechanics, fallers, and swampers.

Course Details:

This course provides an awareness of fireline safety to hired vendors who plan to engage in wildland fire suppression and other incident support activities. Upon successful completion of training, participants will receive a course completion card valid for one (1) year from date of issue. All students must have a California state Fire Training student ID Number to register.
